Georgian president presents new Cabinet to parliament

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili has presented the new Cabinet to the parliament. The only new ministerial changes are Tina Khidasheli (defense minister), Gigla Agulashvili (minister of environmental protection) and Tariel Khechikashvili (minister of youth and sports), Georgia Online reports.


The president's deadline to present the new Cabinet would have expired on May 8. The prime minister, the government administration and members of the parliamentary majority encouraged the president to hurry with a decision.


Margvelashvili said that his main motivation was peaceful consultations. He noted that the political council of the majority had held a session, MPs had considered the new Cabinet. The president expressed confidence in the productivity of the process.
