The European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides, and the Head of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD), Fuat Oktay, have signed an agreement admitting Turkey to the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, RIA Novosti reports.
The mechanism focuses on cooperation in recovery from disasters and reaction to emergency situations. The mechanism consists of 28 EU states, Macedonia, Iceland, Norway and Montenegro.
