Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that the Great Patriotic War was won by the people of the USSR, not separate nationalities. He spoke out against any attempts to distinguish nations for the different efforts they put into winning the war, Belta reports.
Lukashenko condemned attempts to rewrite historical facts . 'The victory is sacred! It can only be touched with clean hands and pure soul. History needs to be worshipped, respected, conclusions need to be drawn, lessons learned. It cannot be adjusted to modernity for the sake of ratings, justification of mistakes and flaws in the policy,' emphasized the Belarusian leader.
