German foreign minister apologizes to Volgograd and Russia

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has apologized to the population of Volgograd and Russia for the pain Germans had done in the past. He called Volgograd a city of reconciliation and expressed confidence that visits to memorials of WWII would convince people to never repeat the war, Interfax reports.

Steinmeier emphasized that the end of the war 70 years ago was liberation of Germany from the Nazi regime and violence.
