Today, Russia and post-Soviet countries celebrate one of the most important holidays of the year – Victory Day. This time the celebrations have a special character, because it is exactly 70 years from the day of the capitulation of Nazi Germany.The festivities take place all over the country. In many cities,  military parades will be held.

Moscow is traditionally the centre of celebrations. Many delegations from many countries arrived In the capital to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Victory Day, including 30 heads of state, among which the presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Kazakhstan – Ilham Aliyev, Serzh Sargsyan and Nursultan Nazarbayev – President of China Xi Jinping and many others.

The main event of the day, of course, is the Victory Day parade on Red Square, which is attended by more than 16 thousand troops, 200 military vehicles and 143 planes and helicopters. The beginning of the parade saw the flag of Russian Federation and the Victory Banner, which were brought to the square and accompanied by the orchestra of the immortal song "Sacred War."

Then appeared the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who is holding the parade. After going around the operation troops, he rose to the podium and reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin about their readiness for the parade. After that, the head of state made a speech dedicated to today's holiday, during which there was one minute of silence for the victims of the Great Patriotic War. After the speech of the President, the orchestra performed the national anthem of Russia.

Then came the passage of troops on Red Square. By tradition, it was opened by the drummers of the Moscow Military Music School. Behind them the honor guard carried the banners of the Great Patriotic War, the most distinguished in its connections.Then came the historical part of the parade. By area, soldiers marched in uniforms of the war.

After them came military troops of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Serbia and China. After them at the head of the Russian troops on Red Square there were students of the Moscow Suvorov Military School.
