Today, on May 10, Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev’s 92nd birthday is celebrated. In the morning, President Ilham Aliyev and his family, accompanied by members of government and parliament, visited the grave of Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honors.According to tradition, in Azerbaijan on this day the Day of Flowers is celebrated. This year the symbol of the celebrations became flower arrangements in the form of a clock, oil rigs and torches of the upcoming first European Games, which are going to be held in Baku, and all the works are made by students with their own hands.
It should be noted that in their work the young florists used only fresh flowers: fragrant roses, daisies, carnations and chrysanthemums. An integral part of the festival is a concert. Children's groups in traditional costumes performed the dance of colors.The birthday of the outstanding political figure Heydar Aliyev is celebrated not only in his homeland, but also in other countries, where he was highly esteemed for his intelligence, unbreakable spirit, political savvy and diplomatic approach, the memory of him is still alive.
A ceremony was held in Paris, in the Oratuar du Louvre church.Addressing the numerous guests at the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to France Elchin Amirbayov reminded that Heydar Aliyev returned to power at the insistence of the people in the most complex and difficult period, when the country was faced with chaos, a deepening economic and social crisis, and the undeclared war of Armenia against Azerbaijan. Paying tribute to the national leader of the motherland, Elchin Amirbayov stressed that Azerbaijan's salvation from the threat of civil war, strengthening of its independence and taking the path of economic development was an indicator of his deep intellect and wise leadership of the country.
Heydar Aliyev passed away on December 12, 2003 in a Cleveland hospital.
