Marzieh Afkham describes airstrikes against Yemen as 'genocide'

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham called the Saudi-led campaign against the Houthi insurgency in Yemen genocide.

Afkham denounced the intensification of Saudi Arabia’s airstrikes against Yemen and Riyadh’s bombardment of residential and populated areas, particularly in the northern parts of the country. Air strikes are in full contradiction with international regulations, the Iranian agency IRNA cited her.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added that all the responsible organizations must take urgent action to prevent the continuation of the appalling humanitarian tragedies in Yemen.

Afkham noted that Iran plans to send more humanitarian supplies, and expressed hope that humanitarian aid would be distributed among the Yemeni people without delay.
