CIS mission observes peaceful election situation in Azerbaijan

The mission of the Commonwealth of the Independent States (CIS) notes a peaceful election situation in Azerbaijan, the First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Vladimir Garkun, told Trend.

According to him, this week the mission will officially report on the results of the assessment of the pre-election situation.

A long-term mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, headed by Belgian parliamentarian Paul Wille, arrived today in Baku and will hold series of meetings in Azerbaijan on October 19-21 to assess the pre-election situation in the country .

Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan are scheduled for the 7th of November.  According to the list provided by the Central Electoral Commission, the number of voters among the permanent residents is about 5 million people.
