Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said his country is working on a draft of a new agreement that will allow the members of OPEC and other oil-producing countries to ensure the maintenance of high oil prices on the world market of around $100 per barrel.
"Currently we are working on an agreement which, we hope, we will be able to accept in June," Maduro said yesterday after meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Reuters.
The Venezuelan president said that they are talking about a joint care plan and a number of major oil-producing countries in the world "to stabilize the (oil) market in the second half of the year."
According to the head of the Latin American republic, the main task today is "to be able to stabilize the oil price at around $100 per barrel in the medium term."
