Morsi to be released, Amnesty International reports

The human rights organization Amnesty International gave a negative assessment to the death penalty, given today at the criminal court in Cairo to former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. It described his trial as a farce and demanded he be released or a retrial be held.

"The sentence of Mohamed Morsi in an extremely unfair trial showed a total disregard for human rights," TASS cites Said Bumeduha, deputy director of Amnesty International's Middle East and North Africa division.
