Azerbaijan is proud of its tradition of tolerance, says Mehriban Aliyeva

The First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva, and the General Director of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, have met in the capital of Azerbaijan as participants of the 3rd World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue and took part in the opening ceremony of the Tree of Peace monument in Baku.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mehriban Aliyeva reminded the audience about the centuries-old tradition of tolerance in the country. "Azerbaijan is located at the crossroads of civilizations and cultures, it has always been an area where representatives of different religions, ethnic groups and cultures lived together in peace, harmony and tolerance. These relations are based on mutual respect and understanding. For centuries a multi-ethnic society was formed, and today we feel a sense of pride because we possess a valuable tradition of tolerance," Trend cites her.
