A return of Russia to the Group of Seven is unacceptable, while Russia will not follow the values of international law, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in parliament on the eve of the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga.
"Russia would stay excluded from the G7 in Ellmau, because we know the G7 as a community of values, united by common values," RIA Novosti cited Merkel as saying.
"As long as Russia does not commit itself and act according to the fundamental values of international law, a return to the G8 format is unimaginable for us," the politician stressed.
