Ilyas Umakhanov, deputy head of the Federation Council of Russia, a member of the Federation Council Committee for Science, Education and Culture, a Dagestani state executive, said that Azerbaijan was using a model of social development formed by people of different ethnic origin. Activation of economic ties requires employment of specialists from different regions of Russia.The trade turnover between Russia and Azerbaijan increased from $2.5 billion in 2013 to $3 billion in 2014, according to the lawmaker.
Umakhanov said that production of KamAZ trucks had started in Azerbaijan. Ambassador Polad Bulbulogly told the Dagestani executive about assemblage of grain harvestors in Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan is actively cooperating with Russia in humanitarian relations. The Russian language in Azerbaijan is under good protection. Not a single Russian school has been closed in Azerbaijan, the lawmaker reminds. Azerbaijan has 16 schools with classes only in Russia, about 330 schools with classes in Russian and Azerbaijani. 82,000 people in Azerbaijan study Russian. Azerbaijan has a population of 120,000 Russians.
Umakhanov reminded that the Baku Slavic University had opened in 2000 and a branch of the Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2009, about 40 higher educations centers deliver lectures in Russian.
Umakhanov will meet with Azerbaijani lawmaker Valekh Aleskerov, who will co-chair the Russian-Azerbaijani interparliamentary commission on Monday. They will discuss monitoring of realization of decisions made at an intergovernmental commission headed by Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
