USA set to fret over freedom of speech in Russia

The US State Department on Saturday expressed "deep concern" about a new law of the Russian Federation "on unwanted foreign and international organizations" and demanded compliance of obligations to freedom of speech on the part of Moscow.

"We are deeply concerned about the new Russian law that allows the government to ban the activities of undesirable foreign and international organizations in Russia and criminalizes cooperation with structures designated as such,’’ RIA  Novosti cites State Department spokesman Marie Harf.

She fears that "this new measure will lead to further restrictions on civil society in Russia."
