Iran and the 'Group of Six' (the five permanent UN Security Council members and Germany) during negotiations on Iran's nuclear program have agreed to a simultaneous lifting of economic and financial sanctions against Iran, a deputy of the Iranian Majlis (parliament), Kamaleddin Pirmoazzen, said today.
Cancellation of the sanctions was one of the most contentious issues of the past rounds of talks between Iran and six major world powers. The United States insisted on phasing out existing restrictions against Iran, while Iran, in turn insisted that all sanctions should be lifted simultaneously with the entering into force of the Comprehensive Joint Action Plan.
Consultation on the draft of the future agreement between the delegations of the Islamic Republic and the EU will continue on May 26 in Vienna.
