Speaker of the Sochi City Council Anatoly Lutsyk said that the city's charter will be changed, abolishing mayor elections. Mayors will be chosen by commissions consisting of the governor of Krasnodar Territory and local lawmakers, Interfax reports.
Incumbent Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov re-elected in September will keep his tenue for four years.
