Kabardino-Balkaria has concluded a weapons amnesty - the voluntary handing over of arms to the state authorities for financial rewards. The arms and ammunition handed over are worth 338,000 rubles, the head of the licensing department of the Interior Ministry Arsen Tlupov said, RIA Novosti reports.
Kabardino-Balkaria had has 4 such amnesties since 2006. 721 units of illegal arms worth over 2.9 million rubles were handed to the state authorities. This year the operation was held from April 15 to October 15.
The locals brought 100 units of weapons this year, including RPGs, submachine guns, pistols and over 1 800 units of ammunition. Tlupov added that the locals will receive money at the end of this year.
Payment for handguns is 4,000 rubles, a sub-machine gun — 4,800 rubles, machine gun — 5,000 rubles, hunting carbine — 4 000 rubles, RPG — 8 000 rubles.
Explosive devices "cost" 2,400 rubles, grenades — 1,600 rubles, gas pistol or mine — 800 rubles.
