UNWTO blocks illegal tourism in Nagorno-Karabakh

The Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has adopted a resolution 'On the prevention of the use of conflict zones as tourist areas, and for other illicit purposes of tourism'.

 

As stated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, the proposal for the resolution was received by the UNWTO committee from Azerbaijan in October 2014.

 

"This resolution is based on the principles of international law and the protection of the sovereign rights of countries, as well as the principles of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism, adopted by the World Tourism Organization," Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garaye said, taking part in the 100th session of the UNWTO,  abc .az reports.
