The first deputy head of the faction United Russia, Franz Klintsevich, said the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, with a "dark past", and the "legendary" city of Odessa are two parallel lines that should never cross.
"The appointment of Mikheil Saakashvili as the governor of the Odessa region, if it takes place, cannot be interpreted in any way except as a sophisticated mockery of much of the region's population, of those Odessans who on May 2 last year protested against the Maidan. And I won't talk about the full, screaming discrepancy between their mentalities,’’ RIA Novosti quotes Klintsevich as saying.
"A man with a dark past, who left traits in his country, and the legendary Odessa are really parallel lines that should never cross. Never," the parliamentarian said.
