Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said that his change of citizenship does not prevent him from participating in the political process in Georgia in the future.
He also noted that according to Ukrainian law, he can retain his Georgian citizenship for two years. A decision to deprive him of Georgian citizenship can be taken by the President of Georgia. This decision could be connected to the fact that he has received Ukrainian citizenship, but it won’t be the decisive factor.
"The people reject this decision, as well as the decision to initiate a criminal case against me,’’ the appointed head of the Odessa region of Ukraine claimed, adding that he will return to Georgia.
