Morsi can give up Egyptian citizenship to stay alive

Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi could renounce his Egyptian citizenship. He plans to become a citizen of a third country in order to avoid the death penalty.

The Muslim Brotherhood movement is currently exploring the possibility of Morsi being deported from Egypt to avoid the death penalty if he gives up citizenship under recently adopted Egyptian law, Trend reports.

The activist Mohamed Soltan, a dual citizen of Egypt and the United States who was sentenced to life imprisonment in Egypt, relinquished his Egyptian citizenship and travelled to the United States.
