Kuban to forbid construction of housing in areas with flood risks

The authorities in the Krasnodar Territory plan to forbid housing construction in the areas of the Tuapsin region with a high flood risk, RIA Novosti reports, citing the local administration.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that heavy rains caused the overflow of rivers in the Krasnodar Territory on October 16.

According to the latest information, 30 villages were damaged, mainly in three regions, Tuapsin, Apsheron and near Sochi.

The head of the region Vladimir Lybanyov said that the zones with high flood risks will not get licenses for construction.

Lybanyov announced the decision at the commission for emergency situations. The commission was discussing the Kirpichnoye village, where the situation is especially complicated. The village was cut off after the bridge over the Tuapsinka river collapsed.
