The Russian armed forces have implemented United Strategic Commands (USC) in four military districts ahead of schedule, RIA Novosti reports, citing the Russian Defense Minister Anatoliy Serdyukov.
The presidents decree on military-administrative subdivision of Russia was to form the USCs on December 1, 2010.
The replacement of military districts is one of the main changes in the military-administrative subdivision of Russia. First, the military districts were reduced from 6 to 4, now they will be replaced with 4 USCs: West, East, Center and South.
