The US remains an important partner for Germany, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said today, speaking in the municipality of Krün before the summit of the "Big Seven" in Bavaria.
"The United States is our friend and partner, we work closely and we have mutual interests, the number of people gathered here testifies to this fact,’’ Merkel said, recalling that Germany this year celebrates 25 years of German unity, RIA Novosti reports.
Recently, media reported that in the relationship of the two countries there has been some tension because of the controversy over the secret services.
