Russia ready to import Iranian oil, media reports

Russia will import the first oil from Iran next week as part of the deal of "oil in exchange for goods," Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh of Iran said to Bloomberg.

"We hope that next week they (Russia) will import the first batch (of oil)," Zanganeh said, adding that for Iran it "is necessary to see how much oil Russia wants to buy," Vedomosti reports.

On April 13, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia and Iran have launched the program 'Oil in exchange for goods' but on the same day, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia has not yet received the oil for supplying equipment to Iran. He said that Russia is supplying its equipment to Iran and working out issues on the construction of power stations and railways.
