Kazakhstani president awarded Alexander Nevsky Order

Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded the Alexander Nevsky Order to Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev for efforts in nation-building, good service, strengthening international authority and defense potential of Russia, development of economy, science, education, culture, art and healthcare, RIA Novosti reports.


The order was also awarded to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, astronaut Valentina Tereshkova, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia Kirill. A total of 97 people received the order.


The Alexander Nevsky Order first appeared in 1725, it was discontinued in 1917, only to be revived in 1942.
