Ingush festival starts at Russian State Duma

Beksultan Buzurtanov, Ingush minister of economic development, has attended the Ingush festival at the Russian State Duma. He said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza that the pace of development in Ingushetia had intensified in the past 5-7 years, partly with the help of the federal center supporting its programs, such as the Polimer Factory and the fish skin industry. Buzurtanov added that the Korean Daewoo bus industry will soon open in the republic.

The official noted that Ingushetia was suffering from the crisis, albeit using it to take ground on the Russian market, most prominently in the field of processing and production of agricultural commodities.

He said that the republic was one of the most youthful in Russia, up to par with Crimea and Sevastopol. The average age in the republic is 28.5 years, the life expectancy is 78 years, which is one of the best results in the country. Many people graduating in Ingushetia work all over Russia, specializing in science, medicine, sports and other sectors, according to Buzurtanov.

The republic is working on import substitution. One of the projects in that aspect is the Bratsevskoye technological center. The minister said that the first harvest of apples had been collected last year. Plums, apricots, cherries and peaches are being planted this year. Ingushetia plans to open a factory to can food. Ingushetia has unique showplaces for tourists, Buzurtanov believes.
