Presidents of Georgia and France meet

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has met his French counterpart
Nikolas Sarkozi in the Swiss city Monroe, within the framework of
Francophonie, Georgian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nino
Kalandadze said, Trend reports.


Mikhail Saakashvili also met the authorities of the Dominican Republic
and Cameroon and the Swiss minister of foreign affairs.


The Francophonie summit was held on October 23-24. The Georgian side
was an observer and the Georgian president was allowed to make a
speech at the summit.


The summit passed a statement recognizing the territorial unity of
Georgia and urging the continuation of the Geneva discussions on the
South Caucasus and a UN resolution to return refugees to their
homelands, Kalandadze said.
