Iran to continue aiding Afghanistan

Tehran will continue providing financial aid to Kabul, an official
from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. The New York Times
reported earlier that the head of the Afghan president's office Omar
Davud had received  a large sum of funds from Iran, Trend reports.

The Iranian embassy in Kabul denied the report. However, the Afghan
president said on his visit to Tajikistan on October 25 that Iran
sends Afghanistan financial aid once or twice a year equal to 500-600
million euro in cash. He said that the funds are legal and are sent
within the framework of bilateral cooperation.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Iran was providing
money for stability in Afghanistan and will continue financial
support.

The White House has expressed doubts over the true purpose of the funding.
