The Armenian parliament unanimously elected to postpone a vote on the
bill on the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh until December 9 this
year. The authors of the bill are members of the 'Heritage' party,
News.am reports.
After Parliamentary Speaker Ovik Abramyan's announcement of the voting
for the bill the head of Armenian Republican Party Galust Saakyan read
out the declaration of the ruling coalition. The declaration said that
there is no alternative to international recognition of
Nagorno-Karabakh. Unilateral recognition of the independence by
Yerevan does not meet the constructive position of the Armenian
president within the framework of OSCE Minsk Group's talks, the
declaration says. Saakyan said that the ruling coalition decided to
refrain from voting on the bill for independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Leader of the 'Heritage' party Raffi Ovannisyan said that they agree
to postpone the voting until the OSCE summit in Astana. The voting
will be postponed until December 9 so that the bill will be passed
unanimously, On December 10, Nagorno-Karabakh will celebrate the 20th
anniversary of its independence, Ovannisyan concluded.
