The Dagestani parliament approved amendments to the Constitution of Dagestan on Friday, as well as amendments to parliamentary elections, Interfax-South reports.
The amendments increase the number of parliament deputies from 72 to 90. This allows all territories and nationalities to be better represented in parliament, the head of the Dagestani president's rights management service Mustap Genzhikhanov said.
The deputies voted on for approximately 30 amendments to the law on parliamentary elections.
The number of regional electoral groups rises from 53 to 62. The number of candidates in the list of regional groups was increased from 3 to 10.
The amendments will affect the parliamentary elections in March 2011.
