Rescuers in Kuban have concluded the main work on clearing the damage
caused by floods in the Tuaps region.
Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that the flood caused by heavy rains
in Tuaps, Apsheron regions of Kuban and Lazerev region of Sochi caused
damage in 30 villages with a total population of 140 000 people. 1498
houses were damaged, 304 cannot be repaired. Railways and roads were
damaged, including bridges. 5131 people were affected, 16 people died,
7 are missing.
Yuga.ru reported citing Kuban-SPAS that all flood-stricken villages
have been secured from building collapses. The fallen trees were
removed. The population and their belongings were evacuated. Dog
services are daily searching through both banks of Tuaps River
underneath Kirpichniy village for missing people.
Electricity and water supplies have been restored. 6 boiler houses, 25
social facilities, 12 car and 6 pedestrian bridges were repaired the
main department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reports.
Housing construction for evacuated citizens is carried out on 4 areas
in Zhubgskiy and Novomikhaylovskiy covering 10 816 hectares. Housing
construction is planned to be completed on December 31, 2010.
