Azerbaijani CEC holds meeting on parliamentary elections

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan has registered
1,009 international observers wishing to observe the forthcoming
elections to the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Trend
reports, referring to the chairman of the CEC, Mazahir Panahov.

According to Panahov, representatives of 48 countries will observe the
elections.

“11 international media agencies are registered for covering the
parliamentary elections,”said Panahov.

Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan are
scheduled for the 7th of November 2010. The official start to the
campaign was announced on the 3rd of September. Previous elections
were held in November 2005.

It has been reported earlier today, that the voting stations in Baku will be equipped with reliable,
uninterrupted telephone service and internet access, Trend reports,
referring to the industrial association “Baku Telephone
Communications” of the Azerbaijani Ministry for Communications and
Information Technology.

Web-cams have been installed in 500 voting stations in Baku and other
Azerbaijani constituencies to ensure the transparency of the electoral
process.

The voting will be available online, giving voters an opportunity to
interactively monitor the results of the voting.
