Russia has initiated uncharged transfers of small arms and ammunition
to the Afghan Interior Ministry, RIA Novosti reports.
The first IL-76 Russian Interior Ministry aircraft with a cargo of
weapons on board from Orenburg landed on Tuesday at the international
airport in the Afghan capital. 16 airplanes altogether are expected to
arrive to Afghanistan.
The Interior Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan told RIA
Novosti that the delivery of large quantities of small arms and
ammunition to the Afghan police force is part of the agreements
reached between Afghanistan and Russia, as well as a contribution to
the historically traditional relations between the two friendly states
in the field of military and military-technical cooperation .
The Russian supplies will be used by the Afghan police to fight
crime, especially the criminal cases that ahve recently been sweeping
the country due to the unstable political situation, the Afghan
Interior Ministry said.
