Turkish Premier and leader of the ruling Justice and Development Party
(JDP) Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that parliamentary elections
will be held in June 2011, RIA Novosti reports.
The decision was made on Monday at the session of the party's
Executive Committee.
Erdogan has been in power since November 2002. At the last elections
in 2007 his party received 47% votes and formed a single-party
government.
In September this year the JDP initiated a referendum in Turkey to
introduce amendments to the Constitution, receiving 60% votes.
