Georgian president meets Iranian foreign minister

The president of Georgia has called for continuing dialogue and official contacts between Georgia and Iran, Trend cites the Georgian president's press-service.

"We support the development of legal instruments in relations between the two countries," he said.

The sides discussed their bilateral relations and the international situation. They underlined the significance of tourism and youth exchange programmes between the two countires.

Saakashvili thanked Tehran for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. The president of Georgia also noted the importance of negotiations on Iran's nuclear programme.

On the other hand, Saakashvili expressed concern about the anticipated death penalty of the Iranian woman Sakina Ashtiani Mohammadi.
