Alexey Vlasov: first impressions of the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan
The representatives of the Vestnik Kavkaza news agency continue monitoring the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan. The Editor-in-Chief of the news agency, prominent Russian political scientist Dr. Alexey Vlasov, has shared his opinion.

According to Dr. Vlasov, today's parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are fair, transparent, and are proceeding calmly. "In a few hours the elections are going to be closed. It is now still too early to make conclusions. However, I would say that the whole campaign was organized on a very high level," said Dr. Vlasov.

"Of course there are some problems, but they are being solved, and in general the elections are proceeding in a rather calm manner. The situation is completely different from that of 2005, when the vehement clash between the ruling party and the opposition almost brought the country to the verge of a serious political crisis," Dr. Vlasov added.
