Russian Ministry for Foreign Affaires expressed hope that Georgia will not violate the sovereignty of Abkhazian water area. The ministry’s representative Andrei Nesterenko noted that Russia as well as some other countries has recognized the independence of Abkhazia.
“There upon Russian Federation expresses opinion that Georgia no longer has right to carry out its sovereign rights and jurisdiction in regard to the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia, including country’s water area, economic area, and continental shelf, notwithstanding that water boundary between Abkhazia and Georgia has been defined yet,”- reports RIA Novosti, citing Nesterenko.
