Street lighting in Kabardino-Balkaria to be operated by "North-Caucasian Highways"

The government of Kabardino-Balkaria today signed an agreement with
the Office of North-Caucasian Highways, which will be in charge of the
illumination of federal highways in Kabardino-Balkaria from now on,
RIA Novosti reports, citing the press service of the president of
Kabardino-Balkaria.

"The problem of insufficient illumination on the federal highways
passing through the settlements of the republic has been raised
repeatedly by the head of Kabardino-Balkaria, Arsen Kanokov. The
problem was that the local administration did not have sufficient
funds for maintenance and repair of lighting. Therefore, the
republic's leadership came up with the proposal to put the Federal
Road Agency in charge of the illumination,” press service reports say.

“Roads are the hallmark of Kabardino-Balkaria. They are what our
guests see first of all. I hope that in two or three years all the
highways of the republic will become comfortable and illuminated,”
Kanokov noted.
