Law-enforcers of Kabardino-Balkaria arrested 14 henchmen of underground resistance and five hideouts of hidden opposition groups since the start of this year, RIA Novosti reports, citing the press-service of Kabardino-Balkaria’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“We had special complex preventive measure within our efforts against extremism and terrorism on the territory of the republic this year. Since the start of this year we arrested 14 henchmen of underground resistance, found five hideouts of hidden opposition groups, we captured large amounts of arms and ammunition”, - a MIA representative said.
He said that these measures prevented large-scale sabotage and terattacks and other destabilizing crimes.
He added, that the crime level in the republic remains high. The number of the last three months’ registered crimes, compared to the similar period in 2009, rose by 4.2%, including murders, rapes and car thefts.
