The Iranian authorities are considering the possibility of introducing
visa-free travel for all citizens of Islamic states and neighbouring
countries, the head of the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage,
Handicrafts and Tourism, vice-president of Iran Hamid Bagai announced
today, RBC reports.
According to the Iranian politician, the abolition of the visa regime
is necessary mainly for tourism development. It will increase the
popularity of the Islamic Republic among potential tourists.
During the recent visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki
to Georgia, Tehran and Tbilisi signed an agreement on a visa-free
regime.
