Armenia denies information about arrival of FBI agents

The Prosecutor-General of Armenia denied on Tuesday information about
the arrival of agents of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, RIA
Novosti reports.

The Armenian newspaper Zhamanak reported on Tuesday that eight FBI
agents arrived in Armenia in order to investigate cases of Armenian
criminals in the US, according to a pre-agreed arrangement with the
President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, to initiate a thorough
inspection in the Committee of the State Revenue and the State
Committee of the Real Estate Cadastre, as well as in several banks in
Armenia.

The attache on legal matters of the FBI, Kevin Donovan, has stressed
the absurdity of the information published in the Armenian press,
during a meeting on the 21st of Octover with the Attorney-General of
Armenia, Aghvan Hovsepyan, the Prosecutor General's Office reports.
Donovan also said that none of the FBI employees had visited Armenia.

"As for Donovan, we consider it necessary to explain that he
represents the FBI in the region and his main residence is Georgia,”
the statement of the press service of the Prosecutor-General says.
