Students of the 11th and 12th classes of a number of public schools
rallied today in Tbilisi in front of the Parliament of Georgia,
demanding the abolition of exams, News-Azerbaijan reports.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia introduced a number
of changes into the school system this summer, which came into force
at the start of the new academic year. Under the changes, the students
will have to pass eight graduation exams in high schools.
Participants of the rally said that the decision by the Ministry of
Education on the introduction of school exams for the certification
was, for them, a surprise. Students, as the activists stated, are not
against education, but do not consider the application of such
innovations for high school students to be justified.
