Turkish president visits Turkmenistan - 2

Turkish President Abdullah Gul started a two-day visit to Turkmenistan
on November 11, Trend reports, citing the Turkmen government.


The meeting will be held in Tashkent. The sides will discuss issues of
bilateral interest and priorities for long-term partnership.


The two states have over 100 agreements in force, concluded at
inter-state, inter-governmental and inter-departmental levels. Turkey
and Turkmenistan have regular air flights and carry out joint
projects.


The rate of trade turnover with Turkey puts Turkmenistan in the 3rd
position. Trade turnover rose by 62.9% compared with 2009.


Turkmenistan exports  fuel and energy, textiles, and chemical and
agricultural products. Turkey exports metal, household products,
equipment, construction materials, food, means of transport and
medicines to Turkmenistan.

The local market has such companies as Polimex, Engine Group
Consortium S.A., Ichkale Inshaat Ltd. Shirketi, Kotam Enterprises and
others.


The countries have had an inter-governmental commission for economic
cooperation operating since 2008. At the latest session, in July in
Ankara, the sides reached agreement on improving mutually beneficial
ties, including the fuel and energy complex, agriculture, transit and
transport, science and research and investment.
