Azerbaijani Supreme Court fulfils European court decision

A plenum of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan has examined and closed the case of the editor-in-chief of the newspapers "Gündəlik Azərbaycan" and "Real Azerbaijan", who had been charged with slander.

Einulla Fatullayev was discharged from custody as the case against him for terrorism threats was closed as well.

The European Human Court of Rights decided to free Fatullayev. He should be paid 28,000 euros by the government of Azerbaijan.

In December 2009 Fatullayev was arrested again for illegal drug possession and was imprisoned for 2 years and 6 months. He submitted a complaint to the Baku Court of Appeal. The complaint will be heard on the 22nd of November.
