Two explosions in the Achkhoy-Martinovsky region of Chechnya killed three servicemen and wounded one on the eve of the first anniversary of the lifting of the Kremlin’s counter-terrorism regime, RIA Novosti reports, citing a police source.
The incident took place on Thursday at around 18:30 (14:30 GMT).
The blast resulted in the deaths “of a deputy group commander born in 1974. Two contract military servicemen, born in 1982 and 1984, were hospitalized. The latter died in hospital,” the source said.
The source also said that during the evacuation of the injured, a second device activated killing another soldier.
He also added that a policeman was injured during a shootout with militants early on Friday on the outskirts of Roshni-Chu in the Urus-Martanovsky region.
