Baku concludes preparations for Caspian summit

Baku will host the summit of the Caspian states on November 18, where
the sides are planning to consider two documents -- an agreement on
security cooperation in the Caspian Sea and a joint declaration of the
presidents, Turan reports.


The documents are being discussed by the working group of deputy
ministers of foreign affairs of the Caspian states in Baku, The
security agreement may become the second significant deal determining
the basic relations of the Caspian states, special representative of
the Russian president for delimitation and demarcation of the state
border with the CIS, Alexander Golovin, said.


He said that the sides already have a convention on protection of the
sea environment.


Concerning the legal issues of the Caspian Sea, a special working
group continues work on the project of the agreement. Golovin said
that there is progress after a meeting in Tehran on November 9-10. The
sides have common grounds in terms of determining the seabed border,
principles of military activities and other spheres.
