The South Ossetian Minister of Defense, Valery Yakhnovets, stated that any aircraft illegally violating the airspace of South Ossetia would be shot down, YuGA.ru reports.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Nino Kalandadze, noted that "Georgia has a sovereign right to send drone aircraft to South Ossetia".
Commenting on this statement, Valery Yakhnovets asserted that South Ossetia is a recognized state, and according to international law no one is allowed to intrude there. "The task of the Ministry of Defense is to protect the land and airspace of the Republic. We will shoot down anything that crosses the border, be it a drone or any other aircraft,” Yakhnovets said.
