Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sent a congratulatory telegram to Russian Muslims in connection with Kurban Bairam (Eid al-Adha). He noted that this Muslim festival teaches a humane and attentive attitude towards other
people, RIA Novosti reports, citing the Kremlin press service.
"The traditions of good-neighbourliness between representatives of various nations, religions and cultures in our country have deep historical roots. And one of the key roles in their preservation belongs to the multi-million Muslim community in Russia," reads the message. He also stressed that this festival contributes to the spiritual improvement of society, educating the young generation in the spirit of patriotism and respect for high moral principles.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has congratulated the heads of Muslim spiritual boards of Russia and noted that the Muslims of the country are making significant contributions to the development of inter-religious interaction and cooperation.
