Former president’s son arrested in Iran

The son of Iranian ex-president Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, has been arrested, Trend reports, citing the information agency Fars.

Mekhdi Hashemi had been in Britain for several months and was detained upon his arrival in Iran.

The ex-president’s children have been accused on repeated occasions of organizing unrest in the country, including mass protests against the presidential elections results of June 2009.
